In a sea of singer/songwriters Kendall Patrick stands apart with a firm belief in the power of her voice to help others find strength in themselves. This 25 year old Ladysmith-born artist is an accomplished vocalist, writer, guitarist, and pianist who works to touch other people, relate to them and have them identify with her experience. On stage, Kendall brings intimacy and humour to a performance where nothing’s sacred. Audiences call her live performance “fabulous”, “inspiring”, and “captivating”; she regularly packs coffee houses and other intimate venues and her fan base keeps growing.

Kendall has been writing songs since elementary school. As her technique and content has evolved she has met much success which has taken her around North America, weaving through coffee houses, bars, conferences, schools, and music festivals. With daring personal honesty and empowering political commentary, Kendall brings people together.

Career highlights include her first self-booked tour, touring with a favourite artist and spoken-word giant Shane Koyczan, performing at the International Media Literacy Conference in Detroit, and recording her latest album with “Summer of ‘69”’s Pat Steward and Doug Elliot. She is currently recording with Juno-award nominated producer/engineer Rick Salt, who introduced her to Steward and Elliot, and has taken her under his wing to help get her music out there.

She believes whole-heartedly in the power of her music to make a positive impact on the world. Her Operation Empowerment Interactive Youth Assembly combines music, visuals, and beat poetry, which she uses to help teenagers look honestly at their choices around media influence. She has a unique ability to connect with youth on their own level. Her project has caught attention from the Oprah Winfrey Show. Although it didn’t make it on the air, it fuelled her fire to continue the cause.

This past year, Kendall has made great strides in her dedication to her career. She booked her own independent tour and spent the month of May travelling south all the way to L.A. promoting her third album, “The Other Side”.  She kept in touch with her fans at home by releasing a series of 6 tour vlogs. Upon her return, she began packing in a full time schedule of practice time to develop her band, “Kendall Patrick and the Headless Bettys”. This band is focused on her original material and is dedicated to live shows, touring, and festivals.  On November  1st  2012, Kendall released her first music video for the song “Big Stars” from her new album. Even though she is not yet very well known, her  enthusiastic fans harnessed the power of social media and brought in over 1000 views within four days. This was an unexpected success, and Kendall is incredibly grateful and motivated as always. A second music video, “Cannonball” was released on December 29th, 2012.  Kendall is currently focused on festival application season, and looking for  Film/TV licensing  opportunities.

    Hi Kendall,

I have set up a spoken word page for my monthly magazine Ascent Aspirations to promote and encourage spoken word artists. I thought as a kick off for announcing a call for submissions, that I would feature each month two spoken word videos from famous artists. The design will consist of a head-shot photo of the artist and a bio with links to his or her web sites and of course the spoken word video that is down loaded and embedded on the site from YouTube.

I am wondering if you would like to be one of our featured spoken word artists. I can embed a piece that you choose from YouTube or I can choose one of my favorites.

So far I have invited Sheri-D Wilson, Missie Peters, Kim Goldberg, Judy Millar, Ivan Coyote, and Greg “Ritallin” Frankson and you can find the example of the pages for them in the current issue and also in the archives.

Let me know if this can work for you. And if so, which video, I can choose myself.
